3rd Twimester Reflections

 What i learned about?
I have learned about the chararteristics of Lipds. That lipids are oils inablility to mix water is typical of the class of water avoding compounds. The steriods are a lipid molecule  that has four fused rings. Then there is denaturation, which is when the protein unravels and loses its shape.

What i have found difficult?
I have found diffucult the differece between diploid and haploid cells. I have trouble understanind how the two homologous sets of chromsomes are differnt.

  1. a diploid cell is just a two homologous sets of chromosomes. A haploid cell is a single set of chromosomes, these are used in meiosis. you get one chromosome from your mom and one from your dad, homologous chromosomes is a pair of each.

  2. a dipliod contains two homologous sets of chromosones. you can remeber this by seeing the (Di) meaning two in Diploid. A Haploid is only one set of chromosones.

  3. Diploids have 2 chromosomes and haploids only have one. there is only one haploid cell and thats the sex cells, like the sperm and the egg, when these 2 haploid cells come together they make a new diploid cell.
